About Allergies
One in three Australians can be affected by allergy.
Allergy may have a significant impact on three key areas of a sufferer’s life; work productivity, social, intimacy and relationships
Seasonal allergic rhinitis is generally caused by pollen, predominantly in spring and summer. Perennial allergic rhinitis is mainly caused by dust mites or moulds and is usually present all year round.
Allergies to pets are not commonly caused by hair. The allergies are most commonly caused by sweat glands in cats and saliva in dogs or the “dander” ie skin flakes that are shed naturally.
Allergies not only cause obvious symptoms such as sneezing, itchy nose and watery eyes, they may also cause sleep deprivation, fatigue, irritability and poor concentration.
